Hamburg at a glance

The world is at home in Hamburg, for centuries trade and shipping have ensured a climate of openness to the world in this city on the water. Hamburg is well known for its world-famous port for cargo ships as well as for cruise liners, which is located right in the centre of the city. Of special interest is Hamburg’s red-brick architecture. You will find a lot of museums and a wide range of concerts and musicals as well as various theatres and an opera.


Hamburg was awarded the title of European Green Capital for 2011. As much as 14% of the city area is made up of green spaces and recreational areas.

The conference will take place in the south of Hamburg on the campus of the Hamburg University of Technology.
